More Moonshine?

After having gotten Moonshine, I still had a few problems. Today, I managed to fix at least two of the issues, suspend and palm sync. I switched to the kernel from Matthias Hensler in order to get suspend working. Very good instructions on how to get it all together are at his site.

Matthias Hensler: Software Suspend on Linux / Fedora Core / RHEL

Both types of suspends now work fine. And with the UI, I have a nice splash screen on suspend/resume.  I did also switch away from Kpowersave and went back to Klaptop. Will have to watch out for upgrades to see if things get sorted later.

The new kernel-suspend2 seems to have also corrected the issue with the Palm not being able to sync. I can sync from the command-line, just need to get JPilot sorted out now.

KNetworkManager still continues to baffle me, by not starting up automatically. Also every now and then, it seems to lose the shared-key info so I have create the connection all over again. I guess with suspend working, I may not have to reboot my machine so KNetworkManager will probably remain on. What I need to check is if it automatically signs me into the “trusted” networks that I have assigned.

In the meantime, Delhi continues to reel under the heat. We discovered that a few days ago the temperature at the airport was actually 49.4C, causing delayed landings for a few aircrafts! (apparently, its not safe to land at that heat) There was rumour of rain, and all the weather forecasts seem to indicate that, but apart from humidity adding to the misery, still no rain and hot! hot! hot!

Cheers…Kishore

Hi Kishore,

For the usual set of FAQ’s you might want to read http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora7/FAQ

Suspend, resume issues, KDE apps not starting by default etc are all documented there. If you got more questions feel free to drop me a mail.

Hey Rahul,

Thanks for that. Will check out the FAQ. But when I first looked it was not populated. Still can’t find the KDE specific stuff. But its good to know.

Cheers…Kishore
